Description
MIRROR BALL SUPER-MOTORAnd general all-purpose
CEILING TURNER
Heavy Duty
Approx 3.5 - 4 RPM
NEW, PHENOMENALLY IMPROVED
VERSION-III
Advanced gearing, way stronger motor
MUCH QUIETER
than
ALL
other motors out there !
Get up to a
MONTH
of use, nonstop, 24hrs a day
This particular ceiling turner case design has been around for a good long time (as in, many years), though the actual quality of the gears and motor have varied widely depending on the manufacturer.
It's very basic, very functional, and provides reliable torque for quite a long while on a single 'D' size battery.
Won't name names, but this little gem of a motor cranks on longer than a certain bunny.
Count on about
30 DAYS
(depending on suspended weight)
of nonstop use with an alkaline type D battery (not included, naturally....are they ever?)
or many
months
of use if it's only being turned on/off intermittently.
In actual timed tests, the longest that's actually been achieved was
39 DAYS
on a 'D' size
alkaline battery holding 1 pound at normal room temperature.
Pretty incredible, we think.

Prior version-I and version II motors
ran a mere
36 hours
nonstop, but you can forget that .... this entirely new
Version- III
has a vastly superior gearing system, which commensurately uses a whole heck of a lot less current, so
you'll save a fortune on batteries
.
It's quite powerful enough to handle up to a 12 inch mirror ball, or objects weighing up to about
2 & 1/2 lbs
or so.
In experimenting with it's upper limits, we tried it with 4 lb and 5 lb weights.
To our utter astonishment
, it still turned. There's no way competing motors we've tried could even come close to this.
However, it's not certain how well or how long it would perform over time with this kind of extreme weight, so it's probably best to stick with under
2.5 lbs.
for regular use.
A 12 inch disco ball, for instance, would match perfectly with this motor.
These were originally (way back when) sold just for turning disco mirror balls. But since then
buyers have found a quadrazillion other uses
: suspending crystals, advertising displays, art objects etc, you name it; see a partial list below.
One very useful idea we learned recently from a buyer is to
suspend a colorful mobile above a baby's crib
. According to scientists this assists in brain development and spatial skills early on (could explain why I'm so dense, can't remember names or faces, add or subtract.... didn't have a whiz-bang motorized mobile when I was a toddler, darn).
BATTERY INSERTION IS A BREEZE !

'Plop and cock' design:
Drop a 'D' battery in and
cock the motor in place.
Done.
Elapsed time, 2 seconds.

An advantage of this design is it's
relatively small size
(at least one competing type is significantly larger and bulkier), and this is better looking visually, by far.
In the course of searching for this, we tested at least 5 other motors that looked identical outside (same shape, same color) but abandoned them all after running duration tests.
One really vexing problem we found on cheaper motors was noise level
.
While ours isn't 100% silent (it is, after all, a motor), the competing ones we tested made so much loud, annoying gear noise that hanging out on an airport runway would have been a relief by comparison. Some importers argued it doesn't matter, that users are mainly DJ's, in a noisy club. Not so, I argued back; the majority of our customers are not using them in noisy environments at all, so noise is indeed an issue.
Too, if a motor makes noise, it means it's inefficient, which means more money down the road for batteries. If it sounds like it's 'grinding', it's straining hard to perform, plain and simple.
Last, but hardly least, we encountered repeat mechanical problems over time with the cheap models tested. Enough already.
So, even though our motor costs more, we settled on this model for the quality, relatively quiet operation, and longevity.
The factory built these to last, so you should get years of fun use out of them.
Takes one
'D'
size battery (not included, but shown in inset at left for reference).
Alkaline
type batteries are highly recommended, as they provide much greater ooomph and power wherever there's a motor involved.
The very well designed
hinged battery holder
makes battery changes a breeze.
And, naturally, an
ON/OFF switch
is built in.
Comes with a
hook ring underneath
for suspending items, and a
wire bracket on top
for hanging the motor on a nail, screw, or suspended wire or string.

SIZE:
6 inches
long (black body)
8 inches
from top clip to bottom ring
1.75 inches
diameter
DURATION:
Up to a month, 24 hrs a day, using an alkaline 'D' cell, though you may be able to squeeze even more days out of a single battey. This is based on normal room temperature, of course; very cold temps would see somewhat of a decrease.
WEIGHT:
Without battery,
4.6 oz
, With battery,
9.7 oz
ROTATION RATE:
3.5 to 4 RPM
on new battery.
Too, rotation rate will trend lower as battery goes down (to about
2 to 2.5 RPM
)
BATTERY:
Takes one standard 'D' size. Any D size will work fine, though you'll get many more days of use with either Alkaline or Rechargeable types.

Buyer Quote
:
"Tell the truth-it was in the mail BEFORE I ordered, right ?"
Or...
"Seller employs delivery methods years ahead of our time"
Plus...
"Dude, the quickness of your response borders on scary, but I certainly appreciate it."
And this, just in

"Can't believe this. Immediately after I hit the 'pay now' button,
my doorbell rang. The package was at the door. Go figure."

California residents
expect to add sales tax at checkout for the gods of commerce here.
Our elected leaders of all that is need new limos, jets, other stuff now and again. Hope that's ok.
