    Description

Superb museum quality example of the rare Miniature ‘ Advertising ‘ KS98 Bayonet and Scabbard.
Both the bayonet and its scabbard, 9¼ inches overall, are in all original pristine mint condition, with the bayonet’s 5¾ inch nickel-plated single fullered blade retaining 100% of its original finish, with one side of the blade engraved with the advertiser’s details “ FÖRDERANLAGEN E. HECKEL SAARBRÜCKEN ”, the other side of the blade being plain.
This KS98 miniature bayonet’s nickel-plated stylized ‘ bird’s head ’ pommel, and crossguard with its upturned quillon, are also retaining 100% of their original nickel-plated finish.
The undamaged checkered wood grips secured by 2 rivets, are retaining all of their original finish with no chips or cracks.
The undamaged 6 inch black enamel painted scabbard is dent free, and again retains all of its original finish.
Miniature versions of the German KS98 (Kurzes Seitengewehr) or short bayonet used with the model 1898 rifle, are extremely scarce.
Miniature ‘ Advertising ‘ versions of the KS98 with its scabbard are rare. Museum quality pristine mint versions of the KS98 bayonet and scabbard and particularly the ‘ Advertising ‘ version are extremely rare.
This miniature ‘Advertising’ KS98 Bayonet and Scabbard would have been given as a promotional presentation, and typically used as an attractive and functional desk letter opener.
The German Company E. Heckel of Saarbrücken, founded in 1905, were one of Germany’s largest manufacturers of cables, conveyor systems and cable car systems (Förderanlagen) and in
1930 constructed the world's first passenger cable car based on the circulation principle on the Schauinsland in Germany’s Black Forest. The Company’s founder, Ernst Heckel died in 1949.
In all, a superb and extremely rare 1930's Miniature KS98 ‘ Advertising ‘ Bayonet and Scabbard in pristine mint museum quality condition.
