Description
Pre-WWII German Mauser M1884/98 Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog. Ricasso is marked "9222" over "b" on one side and on the other side is "Berg & Co.". The grips are solid with some scratches and a few nicks. The blade retains 95% of the finish, it has not been sharpened, the tip is sharp, straight, tight, no nicks, no pitting, and the spine is marked "39" for 1939. The pommel has a double Waffenamt marked "WaA255", above the flashguard and the button are also marked.
Lock button is functional. The scabbard has matching marks to the bayonet "9222" over "b" on one side and on the backside is "Berg & Co." over "1939". The scabbard is solid with a couple tiny dings, scratch lines (not deep, you can see them but not feel them), there is surface rust on the frog stud and on one side of the ball finial, the reverse side is Waffenamt marked. The leather frog shows wear and the stitching is tight, no markings that I can see. Length of the blade measures 9 15/16" (1" wide x 3/16" thick spine), length of the bayonet is 15 1/8", overall in the scabbard it is 15 7/8", and the frog alone is 9 1/8".
