The bayonet scabbard and leather frog are original to the bayonet, and are 100% complete! This is a dandy piece of WWII militaria I'm sad to let go, but I have to thin out my collection for the stuff I really like, i.e helmets and uniforms. The blade is in pristine condition, with an Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen marking with the knight in armor stamp. The leather frog is in very good condition for its age, absolutely no dry, cracking quality to it. It's as supple as the day it was made. (I know frogs aren't supposed to be "supple", but I don't know what other words apply to this). The scabbard itself is in nice condition, though it has some paint loss.Overall a very nice bayonet, complete with scabbard and leather frog, all original without being pieced together like a "fraken" bayonet.
The verbal history behind it is that it was taken from a German POW, and brought back, but I always take these kinds of stories with a grain of salt. The story does not affect the price, as other unscrupulous sellers would do.
